A Knight at the Races, What a blast! Fun for everyone!
What’s it all about? Condensed version:
Now to dispel all the misconceptions: No we will not be taking a bus to Santa Anita or Hollywood Park. No real live horses will be present in any way shape or form. A knight at the races takes place at the Council 5803 KC Hall. The race track is a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood with 6 divided lanes and the jockeys and horses are made of wood. It’s like an old fashioned board game. A roll of 3 dice determines which horses and the number of spaces to move. The dice continues to roll until a horse reaches the finish line and gets a double dice to win.
Two dollar bets are placed for your favorite horse prior to each race with up to 10 races played for the evening. The bets go into a pot for the winner(s) at each race end. To add to the excitement, before the races begin we will hold a stable auction. Each of the 6 horses is referred to as a “stable”. After the 6 stables are auctioned off the funds collected goes into a pot. To win the pot the horse with the most wins throughout the evening will be the winner. The Assembly keeps 25% of all winnings to help support our charitable endeavors. It’s cheap fun! You can play all 10 games for 20 bucks! Annnd… maybe go home a winner! Or just join us for the fun of it and place imaginary bets to win imaginary money! No kidding, your welcome. You don’t have to place bets. We also bring snacks and desserts to share pot luck style and the bar is open.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is not just for the members of the Fourth Degree; it is opened to all Knights and their wives. Plan on attending the next Knight at the Races for an enjoyable evening.
